Character name: Daring Do
Fandom: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Timeline: Technically after the “Read it and Weep” episode, but because she’s the protagonist of a book series in the show, after her last book, I guess? Hopefully, this’ll clarify things.
Age: Roughly the same age, if not older, than Rainbow Dash, so she might be the equivalent of 16 human years old or more; probably 18. She capable of living on her own and stuff!
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: As a Pegasus pony, flight is natural to her. She can also help control the weather and lounge on clouds, but that’s about as magical as she gets. Everything else comes from her very high levels of dexterity, nimbleness and reflexes.
How would they use their abilities?: For adventuring, of course! Daring Do lives for adventure!
Appearance: She is a Pegasus pony with a tan coat and matching tan wings. Her eyes, which are naturally focused and on the lookout for danger, are a dark pink. She wears a green shirt and a very sturdy adventurer’s hat, capable of blocking darts and arrows. Both her mane and her tail have a grayscale rainbow design.
Background/Personality: Because of no established past, much of her background will be headcanon’d:
Daring Do’s adventurous behavior and incredible level of bravery stem from her early years, when even as a filly, she would explore places ponies weren’t allowed to go. Though it was more from her natural curiosity than anything else, she always enjoyed a challenge and pushing herself to her limits, both physically and mentally.
Despite being a very avid flyer and the best in her class, she knew she could always do better. It wasn’t enough to just be fast; she had to be smart. It was then when she decided to pick up reading, studying everything she could. Through this, she picked up a very strong interest in Equestrian history and the artifacts it contained…especially the ones that were still lost in time. Realizing her passion for unearthing the secrets of ponykind’s past, Daring Do decided that she would be the one to discover what hasn’t been discovered, to bring to light what was hidden in time, to be the greatest treasure hunter and archaeologist in all of Equestria!
But doing so would come at a cost: Equestria was incredibly large and in it, countless places to explore. If she really wanted to be the best, then that would mean putting herself in the danger of the unknown and very possibly, out of contact with everyone; if something were to happen to her, she would be entirely on her own…however, such risks didn’t faze her. She knew and acknowledged them when she decided to become an explorer, so Daring Do did what she did best…and explored her little heart out!
But as her many experiences have taught her, rushing into the heat of things was a terrible idea. Too easy was it to trigger traps by rushing into things and being generally reckless; as such, Daring strongly prefers taking her time to assess things rather than blindly charging forward. Through this, she’s also capable of recognizing patterns and solving puzzles with relative ease. That’s not to say Daring’s a pushover if she has to rush in, however; she’s trained her reflexes and dexterity with years of practice and experience, so something like running down a hallway with spikes getting in the way one by one isn’t a problem for her. And since she’s capable of both quick thinking and problem solving, she’s surprisingly adaptable.
But if there’s one kind of scenario that might leave Daring confused, it would likely be more urban settings or cities in general. Much of her life was been spent on the road or in the jungles, looking for the next lost temple or the latest artifact to be rumored about, so while she can speak to others easily, she doesn’t stick around long enough to make real friends. If she could, then she absolutely would, but because the life of an adventurer is one that mandates constant traveling, it’s not an option that’s really available to her. She’s also much more fond of open areas as opposed to enclosed ones; she’s not claustrophobic, but an adventurous pony like her needs some space to spread her wings and fly!
Daring Do never expected it when she first started exploring, but after countless run-ins with her nemesis, Ahuizotl, it became clear that she would have to become a hero and keep Equestria safe from her nemesis’ clutches. After doing so for several books, she’s come to be very attached to Equestria after essentially being one of its guardians for such a long time. To say she was a patriot would be a great understatement; she loves Equestria almost as much as she loves adventuring and she’s willing to fight for it with every fiber of her being.
Why should that character be in this game: For OCs only.
Have you read up on how the game works?: Flaming Ferret.
Also, money through missions, mooching and freelance work.

(So Daring finally has the video feed started, but it’s obvious she’s confused about something. Nonetheless, have a pony…with a hat!)
Alright, as much as I don’t want to, I’m going to play along with the whole “Equestria got destroyed by four apocalypse ponies” story these guys have been feeding me. It doesn’t make sense to me at all, but if it really is in danger, then of course I’ll have to do everything I can to save it! These missions they talk about don’t seem too difficult, but then again, I’ve seen a lot of things and I’ve seen them either get better or worse…usually worse, but it’s nothing I can’t handle!
Anyway, if any of you need a bold, adventurous pony to take on mysterious dungeons or hunt for treasure, then you can count on me! I’ll get the job done or my name’s not Daring Do!
3rd person sample:
Now this was a particularly odd situation Daring found herself in. Back home, every pony was just fine with helping each other out if a problem ever arose, but here? Things were very different. For starters, they weren’t ponies. Second, they didn’t seem to take too kindly to Daring’s presence. It was something she was getting used to; after all, she didn’t really prefer lingering when there were still things to be done.
And the current thing that had to be done, of course, was the mission! Someone was apparently looking for something valuable to give someone else as a present, so who better to send out to find rare and valuable things than Daring Do? It was a simple job and wouldn’t pay that much, but a job was a job, after all. Besides, Daring’s skills with this sort of thing meant she’d be able to do this in her sleep!
The problem with this was that this meant wading through the endless crowds of civilians and others who were in the way. Daring could easily fly over them, but since she had to practically browse the market for something gift-worthy, she couldn’t exactly do that. It was pretty ironic, how many times she finds herself grounded…
…nonetheless, she continued to prowl through the stores and markets, keeping her eyes open for something she could offer for the mission. It wasn’t until she hit up an antique shop when…
"…aha! That’s exactly the sort of thing I’m looking for!" The mission parameters specified that the gift should be something the quest taker herself would give to someone else. If she ever met someone who meant that much to her, then Daring would give her the very item she was currently laying eyes on: it was a beautifully designed statue in the shape of a tiger, decorated with jewels and shining brightly with each speck of sunlight that stroked its smooth surface. This was too good to be true!
It certainly was. Once Daring Do got a look at the price tag, she withdrew in shock. That thing would cost way more than the credits she would receive from the mission! She could steal it, but did she really want to risk it? This wasn’t an abandoned temple; this was a currently running establishment. With a flick of her tail, Daring left the store disappointed, but soon picked her mood back up. That was just one option; in a place like this, there definitely had to be other treasures she could find!
Questions?: Can you handle all of the ponies? Also, since she reallyventured across two fourth walls is part of her own series of book in MLP, would it be possible for those books to appear in stores? She won’t be aware of the fact that she’s a fictional character at all, so that’s been a lot of fun to play with in Dear_Mun.
